We sell belts online and we know that sizing can sometimes be tricky: some of us want a belt for a high waist, others for the hips, or even to wear over a coat. That’s why we’ve created an easy system to adjust your belt to your preferred size.

If the belt is too small, you’ll need to exchange it, but if it’s too large… take note of this tip:

NEVER add extra holes—it looks bad and might not be done perfectly, which will ruin the aesthetics!

Most of the time, our size falls in between standard measurements. That’s why we always recommend adjusting it to your preference—it’s much quicker, easier, and more reliable than requesting a size exchange. And the best part? It will fit PERFECTLY! The adjustment will be just as good as if we did it ourselves in the workshop, so don’t worry about ending up with a “fixed” belt—it won’t look like that at all.

Do you want to adjust the belt to your liking?

Adjusting it is very easy. We recommend visiting a cobbler who can do it for you in just 5 minutes and usually for free. But if you prefer to do it at home, just follow these steps:

You’ll need the following:

  • Standard scissors.
  • A measuring tape to determine the distance you want to adjust the belt, or an old belt that fits perfectly as a reference.
  • A hole puncher (this might be the tricky part for some).
  • A screwdriver, preferably a Phillips-head.

1. Locate and remove the screw

Start by locating the screw positioned underneath the buckle of your belt. Use a screwdriver (preferably a Phillips-head) to remove the screw, ensuring you don’t lose it, as you’ll need it to reattach the buckle later.

2. Measuring the leather strap

Once you’ve removed the screw, detach the leather strap from the belt. Measure the desired length for your belt—you can compare it with other belts that fit you well or measure directly around your waist. Mark the spot where you need to cut. We recommend using sharp scissors to cut the strap, making sure it’s a straight cut to maintain the belt’s aesthetic.

3. Adjust to your liking

On the leftover leather strap, you’ll find the original hole where the screw was placed. Use this as a reference to mark on the trimmed strap where the new hole should be. At this stage, you’ll need a belt punch, or you can visit a shoe repair shop to have the hole professionally made.

4. Reassemble

Once the strap is cut to your size and the new hole is in place, it’s time to reattach the buckle exactly as you removed it. Align the new hole in the strap with the buckle and insert the screw that connects both parts. Tighten the screw securely to ensure that the buckle is firmly attached, making the belt safe and fully functional.

Following these steps, your belt will be adjusted to the perfect size without needing any additional holes.

If you’re not comfortable following our recommendation, you can visit a cobbler who can do it free of charge, or we’ll exchange it without issue. But keep in mind that you might need an intermediate size, and the cobbler may need to make the final adjustment.
